Named Top Doctor, Chicago Magazine, 2001, 2004, 2014 and 2021. Dr. Spellman is board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology, since November 1993.  She has been in private practice with OB-Gyne Associates of Libertyville since 1991. .

Dr. Spellman earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with High Honors from  DePaul University, 1983.  She then received her Doctorate of Medicine from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, Maywood, Illinois, in June 1987.  Her Obstetrics/Gynecology residency was completed at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Affiliate of the University of Illinois, July 1987 – June 1991, with a Rotating Internship, July 1987 – June 1988.

Dr. Spellman is a member of the American Medical Association, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Lake County Medical Society, and the Illinois State Medical Society.  She has been a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 1994, was Junior Fellow District Secretary/Treasurer, 1991-1992, and Illinois Section Chairman, 1990-1992.

Her clinical interests include adolescent gynecology, contraceptive management, preventative care, abnormal uterine bleeding and treatment of gynecologic endocrine disorders including PCOS, hirsutism and acne.  She also performs office-based hysteroscopic procedures such as endometrial ablations for women suffering from heavy menses.
